Panamá, 20/08/2026 – En el marco de la colaboración interinstitucional que desarrolla el Parlamento Latinoamericano y Caribeño (PARLATINO) con Trends Group, se llevó a cabo una conferencia virtual sobre los Fondos Soberanos de Inversión de los países del Golfo y su potencial impacto en el desarrollo económico de América Latina y el Caribe. La sesión contó con la participación del presidente del PARLATINO, diputado Rolando González Patricio, quien se encuentra en la sede permanente del organismo, así como de integrantes de las 13 Comisiones Permanentes de la institución, Gustavo Acosta, representante para América Latina del Consejo Global y del Parlamento de Tolerancia y Paz, y Elías A. Castillo G., secretario ejecutivo del PARLATINO.
La conferencia tuvo como ponente principal al Dr. Paulo Botta, director de la Oficina Virtual para América Latina de Trends Group, quien presentó un análisis sobre la evolución, alcance y estrategias de inversión de los fondos soberanos de los países del Golfo, resaltando las oportunidades de cooperación e inversión para las naciones latinoamericanas y caribeñas. Durante el intercambio, se destacaron experiencias internacionales y mecanismos que podrían contribuir al fortalecimiento de proyectos de desarrollo e infraestructura en la región.
Tras la exposición, los miembros de las Comisiones Permanentes expresaron la pertinencia y actualidad del tema, subrayando la importancia de que el PARLATINO continúe promoviendo espacios de diálogo, reflexión e intercambio de experiencias que aporten conocimientos y buenas prácticas aplicables en los países de América Latina y el Caribe. La actividad reafirma el compromiso de ambas instituciones de fortalecer la cooperación académica y parlamentaria, impulsando iniciativas conjuntas orientadas al análisis de temas estratégicos para el desarrollo regional.

Panama, 20/08/2026 – As part of the institutional collaboration between the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) and Trends Group, a virtual conference was held on the Sovereign Wealth Funds of the Gulf countries and their potential impact on the economic development of Latin America and the Caribbean. The session was attended by PARLATINO President, Congressman Rolando González Patricio, who is currently at the institution’s permanent headquarters, as well as members of PARLATINO’s 13 Standing Committees, Gustavo Acosta, Representative for Latin America of the Global Council and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, and Elías A. Castillo G., Executive Secretary of PARLATINO.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Paulo Botta, Director of Trends Group’s Virtual Office for Latin America, who delivered an analysis of the evolution, scope, and investment strategies of the Gulf countries’ sovereign wealth funds, highlighting opportunities for cooperation and investment in Latin American and Caribbean nations. During the discussion, participants emphasized international experiences and mechanisms that could contribute to strengthening development and infrastructure projects across the region.
Following the presentation, members of the Standing Committees underscored the relevance and timeliness of the topic, highlighting the importance of PARLATINO continuing to promote spaces for dialogue, reflection, and the exchange of experiences that provide knowledge and best practices applicable throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The event reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening academic and parliamentary cooperation, advancing joint initiatives aimed at analyzing strategic issues for regional development.
